Your Ghosts is about wasting the present moment because you're so wrapped up into your past ghosts that you don't live what's in the present. But it has many other layers and meanings. One of the books that inspired the song was Women who run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés and the story of Bluebeard in particular. Another inspiration was Kate Bush and this ability of songwriting in the 70s and 80s to tell stories from the imagination, not everyday-like - and speaking through metaphors.
